Working in a contract team of 2 we have been responsible for the creation of a major business web app designed to allow consultants in Estee Lauder Companies brand stores to capture customer data and create baskets for customers remotely from the main till. The app, which is targeted at iPad minis, utilises a restful API on the backend, while the front end is a single page using the Backbone.js MVC system with Require.js handling dependencies. I was responsible for the Zend Framework 2 REST API backend and the main data structure. Other work included the creation of adapted and addition functionality to an existing business critical application which allows shop counters to take orders globally. I was responsible for the back end Zend Framework 1 work. The creation of new functionality for what is a total revision of the companies existing recruitment system powered by Zend Framework 2.
Following a long hobby of building, running and developing both a forum (Simple Machines) and an e-commerce site (osCommerce) my interest and experience in PHP development grew to the point where I was supporting some highly successful modules/addons, requests grew for me to do work commercially to the point where it made sense for me to do this full time. Mainly the work included functionality creation, debugging and dealing with performance issues. Other projects have been complete systems, like a full members interests system for a UK family history society and a desktop full EPOS system (used in four bricks and mortar shops) linking via SOAP to the osCommerce database. Over this period I gained much experience in Frameworks (Zend Framework 1) object oriented programming, design patterns and a general love of programming.
